Girls Lacrosse defeats Culver City 14-5

Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse team defeated Culver City High School 14-5 at home on Wednesday, March 21, with a top performance by junior Avery McCartney.

Mira Costa started out the game strong but, Culver City matched their strength. The first half ended with the score 4-4, with goals by sophomore Kristina Dirado and Cami Taub. By the second half, Costa gained momentum and came out with a much stronger offense, finishing the game 14-5. According to junior Hailey Dumont, the team worked very well together.

“Wednesday’s game was a success, we came together as a team and we are only getting better,” Dumont said. “Our defense worked together to get the ball upfield quickly and we did a good job at combining so our transitions ran smoothly.”

The Mustangs are currently 9-2 overall and will next face off Redondo Union High School at Redondo. According to sophomore Cami Taub, the team has the confidence to perform well in their upcoming game.

“Based on Wednesday’s game, I think our motivation in the second half has given our team the confidence we need to exceed in our performance in the next game,” Taub said.
