The Mustangs defeat Agoura High School 10-6

The Mustangs defeat Agoura High School 10-6, for their first California Interscholastic Federation game on Oct. 31. Sophomore, Jake Carter had the leading number of goals for Costa, scoring four of Costa’s ten points.

“They beat us last year in CIF, so to win this year felt really good,” Carter said.

Mira Costa started off the game slowly, with the first quarter ending in a tie. Both of the teams scored one point. During the second quarter, Jake Carter scored all three points for the Mustangs. Agoura came up short, only scoring two points, leaving the final score at halftime 4-3 with Costa with the lead.

“I’m glad I was able to help the team and score some goals,” Carter said. “I think as a sophomore it was pretty cool.”

Costa continued to play hard into the third quarter, where they scored an additional four goals. Agoura couldn’t keep up and didn’t score any points. This gave Costa a five-point lead. In the fourth quarter, the Mustangs continued to keep up the hard work, with Jake Carter scoring another point. Costa scored a total of two points in the last quarter and Aurora scored another three.

“I think that we had a rough start to the game,” Senior, Clay Allen Said. “but after the first half we started playing a lot more confidently.”

The Mustangs, with an overall record of 19-6 and a league record of 4-1, will be playing Redlands East Valley on Saturday, Nov 3 for the second time this season for their second CIF game. Previously in the season Costa beat Redlands with an end score of 9-7.

“I think Saturday’s game should be interesting, considering right now we are one to one against them,” Carter said.
