Senior Liam Pachler produced his first album, “Ideas and Experiences” to express himself through music.

Pachler released “Ideas and Experiences” on Oct. 21, and it is the first album that Pachler has produced. The album took Pachler about six months to create and features six tracks, each about one-to-two minutes in length. The melodies that come from the album reflect different sounds

Pachler heard when he was younger to remind his listeners of youth and innocence.
“I produced [the album] using Ableton and Logic Pro X, and it incorporated both electronic synthesizers and programmed percussion,” Pachler said. “I recorded using guitar, bass and live drums.”

Pachler is a versatile musician who can play a variety of instruments and uses his talents on this album. His initial love for music began in third grade when he learned how to play the violin. After learning the violin, Pachler expanded his musical talents even further after learning how to play the guitar, electric bass, keyboard and drums.

“I figured that [music] is something I’m naturally drawn to because of its accessibility and the challenges that come with producing music,” Pachler said.

Pachler also produced three other songs including “Not Real,” “Strange Beginning” and “100°.” prior to releasing “Ideas and Experiences.”

“Two song names have meaning: ‘Nostalgia’ reminds me of a childhood memory and ‘ESP’ stands for my sister’s initials,” Pachler said. “I’m not very concerned [with] song names, mainly because I want people to listen to the music rather than judge it by its name.”

Pachler uses music as an outlet because it helps him express what is going on in his personal life. When his sister went to college, he wanted to express a new and uncertain mood to his songs. Pachler creates his music using technical electronic music techniques and regular instruments to form different arrangements of sounds with unique chords and melodies to make his music one of a kind.

“I have asthma, no coordination, I’m 6’3 so I can barely walk without tripping, and I am bad at communication, so naturally I was drawn to music because it required none of those things and I could still apply creativity and technique to the thing I love,” Pachler said.

Pachler is working on more songs to record with other Costa musicians, including junior Darby McDonald. In the future, Pachler plans to study music production in college and hopes to work for other vocalists and musicians. “Ideas and Experiences” is available on Apple Music, Spotify and Soundcloud.

“I expect to have a career in music production and I hope [it will become] my primary source of income, but no matter what happens I want to produce music,” Pachler said.
