Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young headline La Vista's first Weekly Playlist of the 2019 school year!

Every week, La Vista’s staff submits their favorite songs of the week for the La Vista Weekly Playlist. Members of La Vista explain their song choices below. Enjoy! (Warning: Explicit Content may be present in some choices.)

“Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young 

The Hard Rock 70’s classic “Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, & Nash headlines the first weekly playlist of 2019! “Ohio” was written and released in June 1970 as a reaction to the Kent Shootings on May 4, 1970. The song combines, hard rock cords, harmonized vocals and strong drums to create a true rock masterpiece.

Hot (feat. Gunna) by Young Thug

“Hot” by Young Thug and Gunna is a song about flexing wealth and fame throughout Hollywood. Young Thug and Gunna flow extremely well throughout the anthem, making “Hot” an incredible entry to Thug’s new album, “So Much Fun.”

“Lover” by Taylor Swift 

T Swift is officially back with her title track, “Lover” out of her new album of the same name. “Lover” reintroduces fans to Swift with incredible vocals and a slow yet interesting sound. Swift’s new album, “Lover” dropped on August 23, and is putting the queen back on the map.

We Were by Keith Urban 

Urban’s hit new single dropped into the Country music scene on June 12th, and it has been exploding ever since. It brings back Urban’s classic vocals and iconic guitar giving the song a warm and happy feel. Urban has been a powerhouse in the Country scene since the 90’s and “We Were” shows why.

“Baby” by Quality Control 

Quality Control’s newest single, “Baby” has taken over the rap world, with it’s countless bars from Atlanta based rappers, Lil Baby, and DaBaby. The song is helped out by its impressive and fast beat, created by Wheezy, who creates beats for many popular rappers throughout the Atlanta Rap scene.

“Ransom” by Lil Tecca 

Lil Tecca, or Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, is a new rising star in the rap game. The 17 year old New York based rapper bursted onto the scene with his first single “Ransom.” “Ransom” features an upbeat sound that mirrors beats by Juice Wrld, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. “Ransom” is currently Number 2 on the Spotify United States Top 100. Give it a listen!
