Mira Costa Varsity Tennis hit Beckman out of the court, winning with a score of 14-4. After the girls long weekend in San Diego, the Mustangs placed 3rd in The Point Loma Tennis International at the Barnes Tennis Center.

The team last year went 3-0 at the Beckman Tournament. In singles matches senior Audrey Vo lead the Mustangs and won her match 6-2, 6-1, and 6-0.

“Something that I thought worked very well for me today was focusing longer, and taking more time when serving to my opponent,” Vo said. “Really helping us win some extra points faster in the end.”

The Mustangs swept in every doubles match with leading scores from junior Kacy Feng and sophomore Sydney Vo, winning their match 6-1, 6-1, and 6-0.

“I’m proud of the way we played today, we can always play better but winning today after our weekend tournament was great,” sophomore Haily Huynh said. “I’m excited to see how we do against a team we barely beat last year. Its really nerve-wracking and I think it will be a good match.”

The Costa girls are 14-1 in the season and their next match is against Palos Verdes on Oct. 10th at Costa.

“I’m really excited for a competitive match against Palos Verdes next week because last year we beat them but it was very close,” senior Amanda Scott said. “They’re one of our hardest competitors. Hopefully, this win against Beckman prepared us and as long as everyone comes out playing well.”
