With a dream-like melody, “Cry” explores all levels of love through its thoughtful lyrics and soothing tone.

The delightful lyrics and comforting beats of “Cry” make the album very unique. Each song has a lulling sound that is twisted ever so slightly with straight-forward, honest lyrics about love.

Released on October 25, “Cry” is Cigarettes After Sex’s second studio album. The album consists of 9 songs produced by Greg Gonzalez, the lead singer.

Cigarettes After Sex formed in 2008 in Texas. The band became popular on YouTube and has performed live across Europe, Asia, and the United States. They released their self-titled debut album in 2017.

Each song in the album unfolds a beautiful, romantic narrative. The songs tell stories about different sexual encounters and adventures, which adds to the significance of the album because the lyrics flow from one story to the next.

The lyrics delve into the different layers of love and displays how Cigarettes After Sex views love. “Cry” flawlessly dives deep into all aspects of love, including passion, lust, jealousy, and beauty.

The calming beat and peaceful lyrics make the album very surreal. The lyrics and melody of “Heavenly” compliment each other perfectly, making a relaxing and mellow song.

There is a similar feel between Cigarettes After Sex’s self titled album and “Cry.” They have resemblant melodies and the meaning of the songs are alike. This creates a repetitive feel, which can get boring at times.

The vocals in each song are very passionate and authentic. This creates a tender feeling that allows the listener to be completely consumed by the lyrics and melody.

“Cry” has a relaxing and peaceful theme throughout the album. Each song has the breeziness and anything-goes atmosphere that makes the songs appealing to the ear. The beautiful lyrics about love allow the lyrics to have a deeper meaning.

Released on October 25, “Cry” can be streamed on Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora and Amazon and can be purchased on iTunes for $9.99.
