The Scooby-Doo series’ new movie, “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!”, provides its audience with an adventurous viewing experience while incorporating many aspects of the original comedy and adventure series.

“Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!” is an endearing and pleasant film for audiences of all ages. While staying true to its roots within the classic series, the film maintains excitement through fun animations and a satisfying storyline.

Written and directed by Maxwell Atoms, “Happy Halloween, Scooby Doo!” was released on Oct. 6. The classic main characters of the film, Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Fred and Daphne, make up the heart of the story, but the new film also features figures including Bill Nye, who brings a fresh component to the film.

The film takes place on Halloween night with a mystery to solve. Scooby and Shaggy find evil pumpkins, and as these pumpkins take over, it becomes the main characters’ mission to stop the pumpkins from ruining Halloween. The story’s structure follows rather closely to that of the original adventure series.

One of the key factors that pulls the film together is its youthful humor. The film’s humor keeps viewers entertained and intrigued, while appealing to a wide range of audiences. There are some serious moments in the Halloween special, but for most of the film, there is an uplifting and positive tone that delights viewers. This balance of humorous and serious dialogue makes the film even more enjoyable for viewers to watch.

The addition of guest star Bill Nye adds a modern twist to the storyline that prevents the film from feeling recycled from the original series. Nye brings in modern technology, influencing how Velma, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby save the day, which adds an overall intelligence that serves a great contribution to the mystery film.

Another strength of the movie is the well-known for- mat in which the audience discovers who the “monster” mastermind behind each episode is. Applying this com- mon plot structure maintains a sense of comfort within the audience, which is likely looking for a familiar watch.

The cinematography in “Happy Halloween, Scooby Doo!” increases the film’s likeability and makes it even more astounding with the attention to detail in the settings and characters. The film’s realistic animation distinguishes it from the original series and increases the value of the modernized film, providing a more entertaining experience. The plot is mostly driven by Scooby, Shaggy and Velma.

These classic characters are the definitive backbone of the film and add to its overall nostalgic, entertaining nature. Similar to the consistent plot structure of the series, “Happy Halloween, Scooby Doo!” maintains its classic charm with reliable, well-created characters that are familiar to the audience.

Although “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!” has many positive aspects, the one downside to the film is that its plot is so similar to the show that it becomes somewhat repetitive for an audience that is looking for a new experience. The lack of a new plotline can leave the viewers bored if they are already familiar with the series’ plot. That being said, if audience members go into the film with the intention of watching a classic continuation of the Scooby Doo series, then this movie is perfect. “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!” maintains a comical tone with its tried and true taste and ad- venturous plot. The light, youthful sense of humor keeps the classic show alive through the new Halloween-themed movie and is an exceptional watch for both young kids and adults alike to enjoy.

Released on Oct. 6, “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!” is rated TV-G and can be purchased or rented on Youtube, iTunes and Amazon.
