“Selena: The Series” takes its viewers through the astonishing experience of the singer and her rise to fame.

Although the series illustrates unrealistic scenes, it compensates with originality and creativity, therefore making the fascinating series intriguing to watch. The series is unforgettable because it is so informative. It is also a very exhilarating show for viewers of any age.

The series follows the Queen of Tejano music and iconic Mexican-American pop star, Selena Quitanilla. The nine episode season demonstrates how she becomes famous in full detail.

The American biographical drama was created by Moisés Zamora and was released on December 4th. The series stars Christian Serratos as Selena Quintanilla, Gabriel Chavarria as A.B. Quintanilla, Ricardo Quintanilla as Abraham Quintanilla, Noemi Gonzalez as Suzetta Quintanilla and Seidy Lopez as Marcella Quintanilla.

The opening scene of episode one displays creativity by starting out with Selena’s famous song, “Como La Flor”. This is a perfect strategy to hook in the viewers as it is a famous and well known song by Selena.

One of the scenes in episode one captures such an original and genuine moment when it replays the moment Selena’s parents were figuring out a name for their daughter. As her father was at the gift shop he read in one of the books for baby names that Selena symbolizes the goddess of the moon. This warms the viewers’ hearts and keeps them wanting to watch more.

The acting of all the actors is realistic and makes the viewers empathize with the actors. For instance, when the band was not in their prime time, the viewer instantly felt pity for them through the actors’ well-portrayed emotions.

One major fault in the cast is the actor chosen to play Selena. The actor does not look anything like Selena and does not resemble her at all. When the viewer is watching, one feels as if they are getting to know someone who is not Selena.

Overall, “Selena: The Series” is a must see show with its interesting plot and riveting journey of the famous Selena on a deeper, more personal level. The show reveals elements of creativity and originality, which aids its overall likeability.

The first season was released on December 4th and is now available on Netflix. The 9-episode drama is rated TV-PG.
