Following the information released by the College Board, Costa’s Advanced Placement (AP) testing coordinator team has shared Costa’s 2021 AP Exam testing protocol and dates.

The coordinating team had the option to choose from three testing administration windows created by the College Board. Administration Window 1 will take place from May 3 to 17, Administration Window 2 from May 18 to 28 and Administration Window 3 from June 1 to 11.

As long as students are taking practice tests with their teachers, practicing on the Digital Exam App when it becomes available oand using all of the resources available to them in AP classroom, I think they will be ready,” Halushka said.

The team decided that Administration Window 2 would be the most suitable for Costa students because it provided flexibility for students and wouldn’t interfere with finals, according to one of the AP exam coordinators David Halushka. This testing window includes a combination of in-school, on-paper and at-home digital tests.

“The feeling was that option one did not allow enough instructional time and that the testing dates were too early,” Halushka said. “Window 3 was too close or overlapped with our own finals.”

If students have any exams that overlap in Administration Window 2, they will have the option to make-up the test in Administration Window 3; however, this testing window may interfere with students’ second semester finals, according to Halushka.

“I think that students in past years did not have to worry about digital testing and how to navigate it,” Halushka said. “This is a new layer that students this year will have to deal with, but Costa students have shown us throughout the year how resilient they are.”
