On Nov. 4, the Mustangs took home a big win against Pacifica High School, 35-14. Beginning their postseason with a win, the Mustangs will advance to round two of CIF.

The game will take place tonight at Costa, where the team will face Alta Lmoa.

“We scored first,” junior defensive lineman Archie Iacono said. “Our whole offense was clicking in the first quarter. We had a couple huge runs by our running back, and the passing looked strong.”

Going into the second quarter, the Mustangs advanced and scored a touchdown within the first two minutes, making the score 21-7. Near the middle of the quarter, junior wide receiver Cole Crotty scored a touchdown, giving the Mustangs a bigger lead.

“It felt good to be up at half, but we knew that the game wasn’t over,” Iancono said. “We had to keep being aggressive and have our energy up to finish the game with a Mustang win.”

Going into the third quarter, the score was 28-7, and, according to Iancono, the Mustangs felt hopeful. During the middle of the third quarter, senior running back Matthew Kraskouskas scored a touchdown, and senior kicker Van Graw made the extra point. This play gave the Mustangs the lead they needed going into the end of the game.

“Coach decided to run the ball on third and 10, and [we were] 60 yards from the end zone,” Kraskouskas said. “Coach was trusting me with a huge moment in the game, and I delivered.”

Going into the fourth quarter, the Mustangs led with a score of 35-7. In the first two minutes of the quarter, the Mariners scored a touchdown, put- ting the score at 35-14. The Mustangs then pushed their defense and were able to successfully hold off their opponents from scoring more points.

“My best moment was getting my longest touch-down,” Kraskouskas said. “Getting a 50-yard run called back then going 55 on the very next play [was amazing].”
