Released on November 24th, “House of Gucci” takes the big screens, leaving viewers with a reaction they do not expect.

Critics are disappointed, as House of Gucci was underwhelmingly executed and chaotic. Throughout the movie, well-recognized actors like Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto did not fulfill their audience with mind-blowing performances as they have before.

The movie “House of Gucci followed the scandalous untold events of the fashion industry, more specifically the Gucci family. Through chaotic cinematography, lies are unfolded, backstabbing, betrayal, and even murder are finish sentence).

The film stars Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci. Gaga’s role, Reggiani, married Gucci, the businessman and former head of the fashion house, in the early 1970’s. As the Gucci name rose to fame out of financial hardship, greed became a conflict within the Gucci family.

The tonal inconsistency of the characters allowed for a hectic performance. The accents were intended to be Italian. Realistically, they sounded American with a mix between Italian and Russian which took away from the accuracy of the roles being played.

Reggiani was involved with Gucci and not initially accepted by his father. She allied with his Uncle, played by Al Pacino.

Spite and bad-blood erupts within the family as the plot unfolds. Within the three decades, tensions form, especially after Patrizia sneakily convinces Maurizio to not go through with his law school dreams.

She finds her way into the family business, solely driven by greed and fame and turns her husband against pretty much every member of the family.

Aside from the tonal inaccuracies, the production design delivered but also disappointed. The movie was set in Rome, Milan, New York, and the Swiss Alps, all places where the characters enjoyed vacationing.

Although the natural beauty of these places helped achieve the background for content, it constantly switched up, resulting in the sequence of events to become slightly jumbled.

The Gucci family itself, had their own opinions on the film. They were reluctant to give good feedback because they were not included in the process of constructing the film as intensively as they would have liked.

Patrizia Reggiani, played by Gaga, in real life was in jail for 18 years. She was sentenced to 29 years in prison for orchestrating her ex-husband’s murder and was released in 2016 after serving her time.

Patrizia Reggiani was aware of Ridley Scott’s movie, but she hadn’t had any involvement in it.

“I’m annoyed by the fact that Lady Gaga is portraying me in the new Ridley Scott film without even having the courtesy or the good sense to come and meet me,” Reggiani told Ansa, an Italian national news outlet.

The film was also first a novel by Sara Gay Forden and true story which occured man years ago. This movie was addicting to watch even considering its lack of direction.

“House of Gucci” is rated PG-13 and was released on November 24th. It can be seen in theaters until it becomes available on other streaming platforms.
