On Feb. 16, Ted Lieu donated $1 million to the Friendship Foundation to make more Friendship clubs.
The Friendship Club is a club for Costa kids with disabilities to make connections with other students. Every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch, it is held at tables near the Friendship Club room at Mira Costa. Costa’s Friendship Club was created 16 years ago, serving as inspiration for all Friendship clubs in the South Bay.
“Some of the money will be disbursed to different clubs around [other] schools with their own Friendship clubs, but the majority of the money is going to building a new Friendship Foundation facility,” said senior Friendship Club President Jackson Zawacki.
