This month Coastal held its grand opening in downtown Hermosa Beach, adding another lively and welcoming restaurant to the beach town.

Coastal is located just three blocks from the Hermosa Pier, making it the perfect spot for dinner after a beach day with friends and family. The restaurant offers an assortment of options, including its iconic Connecticut and Maine lobster rolls. The menu also features cheeseburgers, tacos, and pasta, providing something for everyone to enjoy.

According to Executive Chef Brian Porter, he was inspired to create a restaurant that truly represented him and the many places he calls home. His summers spent in Nantucket and professional life in Chicago are reflected in his seafood inspired menu and coastal flavors. His primary goal with Coastal is to provide value across the menu and introduce the beach community of Hermosa Beach to new culinary experiences and winery, compensating for the lack of  a wine scene in Hermosa Beach.

Porter wanted to bring his experience of making and selling wine across the world to Hermosa Beach, where he feels the wine program is weak and too expensive. The touching backstory of Coastal makes customers feel even more at home and appreciate the thoughtful details of the restaurant.

Coastal offers a range of events each week, guaranteeing entertainment for customers. The restaurant holds Sunday Brunch with bottomless mimosas, Taco Tuesday with Jeopardy Trivia, a Weekly Wine class with live acoustic music, DJ Dance Music, and more. Coastal also offers private rooms, a cozy outdoor seating area with a fireplace, and catering options for those that want to serve the restaurant’s delicious food to their events.

The interior is decorated with a beachy theme that matches the atmosphere of Hermosa Beach. The wooden tables and chairs contrast with the cushions’ blue fabric. The friendly and lively staff contribute to creating the welcoming environment by providing very fast and efficient service.

Vintage skateboards hang from the ceiling of the restaurant. There are 35 uniquely designed skateboards produced by Boards Across America’s collaborations with widely loved artists such as John Van Hamersveld, Jimi Hendrix, Farrah Fawcett, The Doors, KISS, California Locos, Mister Cartoon, Rick Griffin, and others.

Coastal is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4-10 P.M. and Friday Through Sunday from 11AM-11 P.M. and has plenty of space for customers to socialize. Coastal uses local produce and  meat to bring fresh flavors to Hermosa Beach residents. Coastal also offers wine and beer from around the world,
