Mustang football legend Cole Crotty received all-conference first team as a freshman at the University of Johns Hopkins. Crotty, a receiver, racked up 1,053 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2023-24 football season. He was the only receiver on the team to reach over 1,000 receiving yards.

“My first year at Hopkins was amazing,” Crotty said. “The team culture here is one of a kind and I feel so lucky to be able to play the game I love with 90 of my best friends every Saturday. It was awesome to win some awards in my freshman year, and I think they are just a reflection of the amazing culture and program that our coaches and teammates have developed here.”

Crotty graduated from Costa in June of 2023 after a historic year as a receiver. In his senior year, he had 1,999 yards and 21 total touchdowns, leading the Mustangs to a historic year with an 8-3 record. Crotty was also a huge help on the defensive end, racking up three interceptions while playing cornerback.

“My experience at Costa was awesome, I loved every second of playing on Friday night,” Crotty said. “I think Costa taught me the value of the commitment to the process of preparation, not only in athletics but also academically. I think that my time at Costa truly prepared me for the academic rigor as well as the athletic grind that I experience playing college football at a top 10 university.”

According to the current Costa quarterback and former teammate of Crotty, Nico De La Cruz, Crotty was an incredible teammate and helped him grow as a player and a person. Crotty’s legacy at Costa will always be remembered and he continues to succeed heading into his second year at Johns Hopkins.

“Cole was a great teammate,” De La Cruz said. “He was one of those people that you wanted to give everything you had for him. Off the field, Cole was one of the nicest people I know. He always put a smile on my face every time I saw him and having him as my receiver helped so much in my development. He was someone I could count on making my play every time without fail and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.”
