Track and field wins away versus South Torrance High School

The boys and girls track teams defeated South Torrance in an away meet on March 14, winning 103-29 and 89-47 respectively.

For boys, junior Reed Scale won in pole vaulting with a height of 14-feet and 1-inch while senior Dan Golubovic placed first in the high jump with 6-feet and 6-inches. Sophomore Niko Pappas won the 800 m with a time of 2:04 and junior Raphael Lawson-Gale won the 100 m and 200 m with times of 11.06 and 23.94 seconds respectively. Senior Kyle Hubbard won the 300 m hurdles with a time of 42.24 seconds.

For girls, sophomore Abby Hong won the mile with a time of 5:17 and senior Claire Barnett won the 800 m with a time of 2:24. Sophomore Alison Bartak won the high jump with a height of 4-feet and 8-inches while junior Kirby Benson and senior Amanda Villapando tied for first in the long jump with 14-feet and 6-inches.

Costa track and field athletes will be competing in the Nike Track Festival at Redondo Union High School on March 16 and 17.
