Softball ties and loses to Cypress in doubleheader

The Mira Costa girls softball team travelled to Cypress on Thursday, March 14 to play a doubleheader against Cypress High School. The Mustangs tied in the first game 2-2 and lost the second 12-5. Costa now has a 4-2-1 record overall.

In the sixth inning of the first game, sophomore Kasey Hutton and senior Taylor Glover scored the team’s two runs for the Mustangs to tie the game. Glover also scored three runs in the second game and junior Sydney Haugh and Hutton each scored one run. During the fifth inning, the Mustangs scored three runs but Cypress pulled through with 12 runs to win the game.

“I’m really proud of our team for not giving up and rallying together in the end,” Hutton said. “Cypress was simply a better team and we can use this as a way to improve.”

The girls play their next game away against Pacifica High School on Tuesday, March 19.
