The Mira Costa varsity boys water polo defeated Peninsula High School on Tuesday, with a score of 11-2.

Costa controlled the first period with three goals in a row. Senior perimeter Drew Rogerson scored twice, and junior perimeter Andrew Todd scored once.

Costa scored again at the beginning of the second period. This goal was followed by a Panthers’ goal. After another block by Dale, Rogerson scored another goal, making the score 5-1.

In the third period, senior Andrew Burdiak scored off of an assist from senior perimeter Gabriel Smith.

Peninsula started off the fourth period with one goal, but Costa followed it with five more. The end score was 11-2.

“Team chemistry and communication during games are right where they need to be, as is evident by today’s game,” junior perimeter player Dylan Linnell said. “We now give up ill-chosen shots taken by ourselves for much better shots taken by our teammates.”

The boys play Redondo High School on Oct. 10 at 3:45 p.m. at home.
