Video – Inside Air+Style: The Black and The White

In an era where music seems to stray from what artists actually believe in, there are still people that produce music from the heart. One band that embodies that spirit is The Black and The White. Based out of Los Angeles, the trio has recently released their latest single, “Torn Up,” and performed the song at the first U.S. edition of Shaun White’s Air + Style, as well as songs from their EP, Futures.

Despite the endless rain and a stage set far from the main audience, The Black and The White gave a heart-stopping performance overflowing with emotion. With Julio Tavarez pouring his soul into the mic, Mario Gonzalez teaming with his own vocals, and Cliff Sarcona manning the drums, the band electrified their set.

Although not quite the biggest headliner at Air + Style, the talented, energetic trio put on arguably the biggest show. The audience fed off of Tavarez’s longing croons and wild twisting; as he became lost in his energy, those watching found theirs’. At this set, their music was heard through the audience’s eyes just as much as their ears.

The Black and The White represent a rare breed in the music industry, one that values truth and content stemming from the beats of their hearts. In other words: artistry. Tavarez, Gonzalez, and Sarcona live and breathe their respective fervency for creating and performing music. The pure passion accompanying their delivery is what drives the band and, in turn, their music.
