The Mira Costa Varsity swim team finished its season on Saturday in the California Interscholastic Division II Finals. Senior Ed Jeon, Junior Ian Campbell, and Sophomore Paige Richardson were the only Mustangs to qualify for the final event. Costa placed 36th out of 40 teams.

Senior Jeon finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.45, placing 6th and tallying 15 points to Costa’s score. Also, Sophomore Paige Richardson lead the girls in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 423.15.

“I thought it was great having a lot of people coming out to support us in our final event,” Jeon said. “This was my last event at Costa and I was disappointed with my 6th place finish to finish my high school career.”

Costa did not have the most successful season this year due to a lack of upperclassmen. Costa has a lot of strong sophomore girls to lead the team next year. The boys will be losing Ed Jeon, but Ian Campbell will be returning.

The Swim team finished the season with only 3 individuals in the CIF finals. The girls varsity swim team finished the season 3-5 and 1-2 in Bay league, while the boys finished 3-4-1 and 2-0-1 in Bay league.

“I am looking forward to competing next year and continuing to improve in my upcoming seasons,” Richardson said. “All I can do is hope for the best.”
