Mira Costa’s junior varsity tennis team played in place of Costa’s varsity team on Thursday, and swept Inglewood High School’s tennis team 18-0 in the team’s sixteenth varsity match this season.

Junior singles player Talia Horrow stood out in yesterday’s match by winning all three of her games 6-0. According Horrow, every player on the team won at least one of their games 6-0 which contributed to Costa’s landslide victory.

“Yesterdays’ match shows that our junior varsity team is of the same caliber as a varsity team,” Horrow said. “All of our players did amazing during their games and were determined to be victorious.”

Costa’s tennis team is currently 4-1 in Bay League and 14-2 overall. The team’s next match is against Redondo at home on Oct. 8. According to coach Joe Casulli, the team has been working hard, and the players have been practicing their serves in preparation for next match.

“Redondo has an excellent tennis team, so the Mustangs next match will be interesting,” Casulli said. “Costa should achieve great things against Redondo, and I am confident in our teams ability to play a solid match.”
