Mira Costa’s girls tennis team swept its first match of the season against Long Beach Poly 18-0 yesterday with top performances from freshman doubles players Olga Nagy and Audrey Vo in doubles.

The girls began their season on the right foot, with seniors Amy Gaal and Talia Horrow winning games 6-0 and 6-2, respectively. According to Horrow, the team had a great start to the season with this win and the whole team played their best.

“This win is an awesome start to the season,” Horrow said. “We definitely hit the ground running so hopefully we can keep up this momentum throughout in our upcoming matches.”

The Mustangs are starting 1-0 overall with their next match away against Brentwood on Sept 6.  According to Horrow, the team is playing well but needs to continue practicing before the upcoming match.

“We need to work on our accuracy and consistency before the next match,” Horrow said. “This can be done easily with more practice.”
