Mira Costa’s boys basketball team crushed Culver City 78-41 at home on Wednesday in the Pacific Shores Tournament. Many steals and fast break plays led to a plethora of points from the perimeter and free throw line.

Senior forward Quenton Jackson put up 20 points and two steals, and senior guard Johnny Mims had 11 points and four steals. According to Jackson, the team’s defense allowed the team to succeed on offense.

“Our defensive play gave us momentum and really helped us transition to offense on the fast break,” Jackson said.

Costa is now 2-0 overall and will play its next game of the Pacific Shores Tournament against Burroughs High School today At home. According to junior guard Brandon Chan, the team hopes to use the momentum from this game to execute in the next.

“Right now we just have to look at what we can do better,” Chan said. “If we can build off of that we will have success every game.”
