Mira Costa’s boys basketball team defeated Palos Verdes High School 64-45 this Friday at Costa in a Bay League game. Senior guard Quenton Jackson returned with his best performance since his injury. He scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds, made one assist, and stole the ball five times.

The Mustangs dominated on defense and on the fast break which led to most of their scoring opportunities. According to junior guard Ryan White, he was glad to see that Jackson was able to play at maximum capacity and the team functioned well with him back on the court.

“After coming back from an injury it can be tough,” White said. “But Quenton obviously showed that he is ready to help lead the team again and contribute to our success.”

Mira Costa is now 13-10 overall and 3-3 in Bay League. The team next plays Peninsula High School in an away Bay League game on Tuesday. According to sophomore guard Bobby Barkley, the Mustangs will have to stay focused as well as limit Peninsula’s Mickey Babick’s effectiveness.

“Babick is their best player, and if we shut him down we will have a good chance to win,” Barkley said.
