Mira Costa’s girls basketball team defeated Inglewood High School Friday 67-14 at Inglewood in its seventh Bay League game of the season. Costa received a standout performance from senior Chloe Lelchuk who contributed eight points in the victory.
From the beginning, it was clear that the Mustangs were the superior team. By halftime, Costa had accumulated a 30 point lead. In the second half, they continued to score and add to their lead. According to junior forward Mia Finney, the game was put out of reach early in the game.
“We were up by such a large margin, it wasn’t much of a challenge to continue to hold the lead,” Finney said.
The 16-7 Mustangs, now 5-1 in Bay League, will take on Bishop Montgomery Saturday in a non-conference home game. According to Finney, the team will have to keep its focus in order to have a strong end to the season.
“We will have to continue to keep our focus and play the way we know how for the rest of the season,” Finney said.
