Girls soccer shuts out Morningside 6-0

Mira Costa’s girls soccer team shut out Morningside High School 6-0 in a Bay League match away on Tuesday. Goals from juniors Delaney Whittet, Allison Roth, Delaney Kluth, and senior Kendall Douglass helped the Mustangs prove their ability to score.

The team scored 3 goals in the first half and the other 3 in the second while keeping another shutout. According to Roth, the game was a great opportunity for the team to really focus on aspects on their game as they prepare for the last game of the season.

“We didn’t have the best game today and we have been struggling with some plays and techniques for a while now,” Roth said. “This game was the time to really define and clean up our game.”

The Mustangs’ are currently 6-1-2 in Bay League and 14-1-4 overall. The Mustangs will play its next game away against Redondo on Thursday. According to Roth, the team is excited to play the Seahawks, but they know that it won’t be an easy game.

“I am extremely excited to play Redondo and I know our team is super pumped as well,” Roth said. “They always bring great a competition so we have to will have to make sure that we are 100% focused throughout the entirety of the game.”
