Freshman Alexandra Crisera sets 100 Free record in swim’s South Bay Invitationals prelims

Mira Costa swim competed in the girls preliminaries for the South Bay Invitational at home on Wednesday, with freshman Alexandra Crisera breaking a meet record in the 100 free, previously set by El Segundo High School junior Bridgette Allison at 52:98.

 

Freshman Nikki Cooper won the 500 yard freestyle at 5:24:71. Crisera also dominated her events, winning the 100 yard freestyle at 52.32 and led her relay team to victory in the 400 yard and the 200 yard freestyle relay. According to junior Katie Barnhill, the team is excited to see what they can do in the finals on Friday.

 

“Everyone swam well,” Barnhill said. “There was great competition and we’re looking forward to finals tomorrow.”

 

The Costa boys and girls, both 2-0 overall, will be going into the South Bay Invitational Finals on Friday at home. According to junior Emma Nerad, the girls are looking to maintain their momentum going into the finals.

 

“I’m excited that so many of our swimmers are going to be at finals this Friday,” Nerad said. “I think our individual events and our relays will hold their own against some amazing swimmers from the South Bay. I’m excited to see us work hard and have fun, just like during prelims.”
