Mira Costa’s track and field team competed in the Bay League preliminary meet at Redondo Union High School against other Bay League schools. To qualify for the Bay League Finals, team members had to meet certain cutoff times.

Senior Fabien Franck Love placed first in the 300 meter hurdles for the boys at 41.07 seconds. Junior Shante Robinson placed first in 300 meter hurdles for the girls at 46.92 seconds. According to senior distance runner Ethan Williams, the preliminaries are a good preparation for the finals.

“Although the preliminaries are not that difficult and it’s fairly easy to qualify, it gives us an idea of what we are going against for the finals,” Williams said.

The Mustangs, now 3-1 in Bay League, will next compete in the finals on Friday against all of the Bay League schools. According to senior distance runner Ty Garrett, the finals are a big part of the season.
“Everything we’ve been training for this season is coming to a close soon,” Garrett said. “It’s the seniors and I’s last Bay League finals, so we really want to do well.”
