The Mira Costa Cross Country team participated in the second Bay League cross-country meet at Polliwog Park on Oct. 14. The Costa girls finished second, while the boys finished last.

The girls earned second to Redondo by 12 points. Senior Savannah Pio won the girls Varsity race in 17:18 and teammate senior Aryn Foland came in second with a time of 17:29. Junior Kelli Sugimoto finished third for Costa with a time of 18:01. The tight packing will be helpful as the Mustangs look to Bay League finals and CIF.

The boys finished last in the league at the race. Junior Adam Perez finished with a time of 15:42 in tenth place. Junior Zack Adler finished close behind Perez with 15:52. The boys will look to close the gap between their top runners to finish higher overall.

The teams will travel to the Mt. Sac Invitational on Oct. 23. The girls will run in the Varsity Sweepstakes race, which will pair them with some top teams in the nation, including Xavier Prep from Arizona.
