Rap icon Tyler the Creator’s fifth annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival was a huge success featuring outstanding rap performances that greatly excited the large crowd.

Camp Flog Gnaw differentiates itself from other mundane music festivals due to the fact that it hosts several entertaining carnival games and rides, along with expensive, decedant food vendors and exceptional performances from some of the most popular rap artists in the industry.

Starting in 2012, camp Flog Gnaw is an annual festival hosted by rapper, Tyler the Creator. The festival was hosted at Exposition Park in Los Angeles on Nov. 12 and 13. Every year the fesitval hosts popular artists such as Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky and Mac Miller.

The Carnival had two stages: the Flog Stage and the Camp Stage, both of which featured multiple performers throughout the entirety of the festival. The Carnival also offered attendees the option to choose from a wide variety of food vendors and a collection of classic carnival rides and games.

The festival had classic carnival games spread throughout the venue, such as ballon darts, ring tosses and watergun races. Attendees were able to win Odd Future merchandise at each game, along with other smaller prizes. Although prizes were given out, the games were expensive to play, and extremely difficult to win, ultimately frustrating players.

The headliners of the festival included popular rappers including Chance the Rapper, Schoolboy Q and A$AP Rocky. Each performer was able to excite the audience by playing their hit singles along with songs from recently released albums. The inclusion of popular artists allowed the audience to be able to sing along and further enjoy the performances.

Another enjoyable aspect of the festival was the wide variety of food that included options such as Korean soup, pulled-pork curly french fries with coleslaw and chicken and waffles. For a more intricate meal there was the “F*ck Thats Delicious” booth that had meals created by rapper and chef Action Bronson. The wide variety of food selections accomidated the pallates of all concert-goers and created an inclusive environment.

The main highlight of the festival was the reuniting of former Odd Future members. The host Tyler the Creator, reunited with former group member, Jasper. Although the duo was late to their performance, they entranced viewers with an entertaining set featuring astonishing special effects including light shows and pyrotechnics.

Unfortunately, extremely long lines to enjoy the carnival rides detracted from the overall enjoyability of the festival. Although the festival had a diverse collection of the rides, it was nearly impossible to ride more than two rides without missing an artist’s set.

Camp Flog Gnaw exceeded expectations with a diverse collection of stimulating performances and thrilling carnival rides, but lacked affordable food and a venue large enough to accomidate the enourmous crowds.
