Well Mustangs, a new season is upon us, and with this new batch of teams comes a chance to wash away the failure that was our fall California Interscholastic Federation postseason. Thanks to Melia Chittenden and the efforts of the cross country teams, Costa was able to add more hardware to the dilapidated trophy case in Fisher Gymnasium.

In other news, construction on the Meadows field has begun. With excessive exit closures, and only two fields open for sports, students have had no choice but to ruin any remaining patches of living grass on the baseball/soccer/marching band/football/every extracurricular activity ever field. Hey, colorguard has to wave those sticks somewhere.

Also, Measure EE and C are here but not quick enough.  It appears  that the wrestling team will once again have to live in fear, hoping that it can survive the deadly outbreaks of ringworm. Girls and boys basketball will continue their bloody battle for the only remaining basketball court, and cross country will bob and weave its way through the hoards of students begging their teachers to bump them up to a 90%.

It won’t be long before soccer will begin practicing on the grassy knoll, and the basketball team will be hanging hoops off the bookshelves that our beloved Mrs. Lofton worked so hard to erect.

Finals are around the corner, and athletes as well as simpletons know that it can be a very tough time.  So, like any normal Manhattan Beach kid would do, wait till the night before your final and say, “Hey mom, can I have some adderall to study?” She will undoubtedly comply, because nothing can get in the way of her coddling her child, except maybe a tennis match.

Good luck with finals Mustangs, and we will see you again next month. Enjoy the holidays!
