“Take the 10” starring Josh Peck and Tony Revolori is not even worth ten minutes of a viewer’s time.

The Netflix original film directed and written by Chester Tam is a low budget, unfunny, and vulgar film. The actors deliver subpar performances within a jumbled storyline that is incredibly difficult to follow.

“Take the 10” follows two friends and co-workers, Chester (Tony Revolori) and Chris (Josh Peck). After getting mixed up with criminals such as a drug dealer named Jay (Chester Tam), and a gangster named Carlo (Carlos Alazraqui), the pair attempts to make their way to the Inland Empire for a concert.

However, before Chester and Chris can make it to the concert, they must first figure out a way to pay for the tickets and pay back the store from which they stole merchandise. After deciding to steal the tickets rather than pay for them, Josh and Chester are pursued by Jay, as well as a number of other people they owe money to.

Even though the film was not meant for theaters, the low quality of the set is distracting to the viewer. In one scene, Chris’s shirt contains sweat stains, only to have them disappear in the next camera angle. More noticeable low budget flaws include the atrocious special effects. Such as unrealistic muzzle flares, gun sounds, and kickbacks of a gun that do not occur at the same time.

Despite being listed as a comedy, the film lacks any substantial humor. Chester and Chris are constantly telling jokes that fall completely flat. In many scenes, the duo speak about stale, pop-culture references.

In order to compromise for the lack of intelligent humor, the writer (and director) Chester Tam attempted to flood the script with profanity and vulgarity. However, the vulgarity used simply does not aid in the quality. At some points, the film creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for viewers due to the  number of sexual references made by Chester, Chris, and other characters.

Despite being known for his stellar role in the popular television show “Drake and Josh” Josh Peck delivers a weak performance that is far below his acting abilities. His character seems static, continually showing a lack of emotion in many scenes. His co-star, Tony Revolori, also lacks depth and comedic value, cheapening the film overall.

The film’s plot is nonlinear and an absolute chore to follow. Scenes flash between past and present events, leaving the viewer feeling utterly disoriented. By the time Chester and Chris actually begin to head to the concert, the viewer is unsure whether the current events are happening in the present moment, or are actually part of an event earlier in the day.

Out of 5 stars, the film deserves a mere 1.5. It is absolutely not worth watching, despite having a relatively star studded cast.

“Take the 10” is only available for streaming on Netflix.
