Elton John’s tribute album, “Revamp” is his best album to date and astonishes listeners with harmonious tunes and innovative lyrics

“Revamp” surmounts all standards by successfully remastering Elton John’s original songs. The charismatic vocals and electric vibe resonates throughout the album and showcases a modern version of John’s 1970s classics.

Island Records released “Revamp” on April 6. Produced by Elton John, the album features various artists, such as P!nk, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Q-Tip, and John himself.

“Restoration” is an additional album that was released on April 6 as a tribute to Elton John and his songwriter Bernie Taupin. Both albums come ahead of John’s lengthy farewell tour, which starts in September 2018 and will end in 2021.

The sound produced by the combination of guitars and pianos create captivating rhythms as well as many electro-pop sounds which bring an EDM atmosphere to some of his songs. These assets are present in the song, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Q-Tip. The song features many modern, electric computerized sounds which are uniquely distinct from the original song.

The vocals throughout the album are melodious and promote the multiple artists’ talents and passion. In “Candle In The Wind,” Ed Sheeran passionately sings in the higher end of his vocal range, displaying his emotion. The track also features a chorus that sounds harmoniously in tune with Sheeran’s vocals, amplifying the energy throughout.

Throughout the album, listeners are intrigued by Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s personal experiences highlighted in their lyrics. For instance, in the remastered song, “Tiny Dancer” by Florence + The Machine, the lyrics describe Taupin’s experience when visiting Los Angeles in the 1970s. The lyrics of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Queens of the Stone Age describe John and Taupin’s opinion on urban values, wealth, and social acceptability.

The acoustics are incredibly diverse in each track, allowing them to be uniquely captivating. For example, “Bennie and the Jets” by P!nk, is upbeat and inspiring, while another track, “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” by Mumford & Sons provides an electric slow-tempo rhythm which adds to the albums electric atmosphere.

“Revamp” revives Elton John’s legacy with a remastered album that utilizes catchy tunes, diverse acoustics and strong vocals to complement the well-written lyrics.

“Revamp is available for streaming on platforms such as iTunes and Spotify.
