As Costa ends the 2020-2021 online/hybrid school year, most staff members and students are looking forward to returning back to school in a normal setting. Students have been suffering with online learning and the effects are starting to show as most students are not retaining the same amount of information as they would have if they were in classrooms. All students must return to school in the fall of 2021 to continue proper education.

Since California moved into the least restrictive tier on May 6, the state will reopen fully on June 15, according to the LA Times. Therefore, all Costa students should return to school in the fall as it is safe and beneficial. As of now, students can choose to return to school fully, but many still have a variety of restrictions and concerns due to COVID-19. As the vaccine becomes more readily available, the return to school in the fall is a must for all students to receive proper education.

Face-to-face learning proves to be more effective than distance learning. According to the Crimson White, “Face-to-face learning also lends a hand in organizing students and their studies. They are given the ability to interact with their instructors and other students.” Students are able to be actively engaged instead of being stuck behind a screen for continuous hours. Even though this  school year was mostly online, most students felt as if the instruction was not as strong as it could have been if school was in person.

The push to urge students back into classrooms must be done effectively. Students are missing out on crucial information that would be learned if everyone was required to go back to school. All students need to return to school as it will benefit their education and allow their lives to return to normal. Costa should encourage students to return to school to resume school activities, school spirit, and to improve the learning experience.

However, many students may not want to return to school for various reasons, such as safety. Costa has implemented many safety measures, like wearing masks and social distancing. Most students and staff members are fully vaccinated. All these factors can ensure that the spread of COVID-19 will decrease. Even if students are fearful, it should be encouraged for all students to return to school because it is safe and beneficial towards their education.

Faculty staff, parents, and teachers should urge young adults to be back in classrooms to receive proper instruction. On June 15, California is reopening fully which will allow the state to return to a sense of normality again. This should allow all students to return to campus with a normal schedule as it was once before.
