Mira Costa’s girls tennis team played matches against Culver City High School, Peninsula High School and Marlborough High School September 12-14. Costa beat Culver City 17-1 Sept. 12 and Marlborough Sept. 14 16-2 but lost to Peninsula Sept. 13 with a final score of 11-7.

“Culver and Marlborough are weaker teams, but it was a great opportunity to try out different doubles teams and lineups and get more practice in,” senior Ashna Patel said. “Peninsula was a very strong team, and Costa fought really hard in each round but lost closely 11-7. Even though we lost, a lot of our players played really well, and we were proud. Hopefully, we can get them next time,” said Patel.

The girls tennis team’s next match will be Friday and Saturday at the annual San Diego tournament.

“Our team this season is very strong, but I think one of the coolest things has been building our team culture and getting to know one another,” said Patel “We all hope to continue getting to know each other better, especially at our upcoming San Diego tournament,” said Patel.
