Mira Costa’s girls tennis team beat Geffen High School on Sept. 19, 16-2 at UCLA, leaving the team ranked higher in the overall standings.
“Overall, we are a stronger team than Geffen. However, it was a great opportunity for us to practice and work on our skills as a team. Doubles and singles both played amazingly, and our coach helped to boost our confidence,” said senior Skyla Kallis. “Costa fought really hard in each round and continued to pull out a win. Many of our players played really well, and we were extremely proud. Hopefully, we can play them again soon,” said Kallis.
The girls tennis team’s next match will be Friday and Saturday at the Point Loma Tournament in San Diego.
“San Diego is a great opportunity for our team to bond; we have strong players this year in both the doubles and singles divisions,” said Kallis. “It will be exciting seeing what we can do at a tournament of this scale, since there are usually 16 different teams that attend,” said Kallis.
