The 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, airing all the way from Paris, managed to shock and entertain audiences with extravagant outfits, vibrant performances, and an eye-catching stage.
The 2016 fashion show stood out from the previous shows with six different lines, numerous live performances, and variety of models that added a spark like no other. It’s plethora of features kept audiences on the edge of their seats wondering what would come next.
This fashion show first started in New York City in 1996 and has been developing ever since. The show is most commonly held in New York City but has also made appearances in London, Miami, Los Angeles, and Cannes. Every year the show features some of fashion’s most significant models such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
The show consisted of six different lines, the “Road Ahead”, “Mountain Romance”, “Pink Nation”, “Secret Angel”, “Dark Angel”, and “Bright Night Angel”. Each line expressed a different tone, mood, and variation of color. With each line came a different choice of music, most of which were live performances by artists, including Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and the Weeknd.
Opening up the show was the line “Road Ahead”, which offered colorful, multicultural-inspired pieces that focused mainly on the Chinese Culture. This line varied greatly compared to “Dark Angel” which was filled with all black outfits and conveyed a more mysterious attitude. Contrasting lines like these two did a great job creating variation between the pieces, enthralling viewers with its element of surprise.
Each song played during the walks offered a different tone to successfully match that of the models’ outfits, a quality that was best exemplified during Lady Gaga’s second performance of her song “A-Yo.” Offering upbeat music that helped keep the audience alive and fascinated, her performance along with others found commonplace in exciting audiences and adding to the excitement of the show.

Each set contained different color lights and backdrops, adding an eye-catching feature to each walk and complementing the clothing’s color scheme. During the “Bright Night Angel” set, the lights reflected off of the models bedazzled outfits, creating an illusion that more colors were being displayed than there actually were, offering a beautiful and extravagant visual to the show.
Victoria’s Secret created a successful show where each line offered something different to the audiences, thus appealing to all styles. Each performance and colorful, extravagant line, worked together to create an engaging and unforgettable show.
