Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse team defeated Yorba Linda High School 8-2 on Saturday while competing in the Girls Lacrosse Rose Bowl Tournament.  The team was lead by junior Charlie Manley who helped Costa offensively with three goals.

Other offensive contributors included sophomore Avery McCarty, senior Kelli Mark, and sophomore Hannah Beck who combined for the other five goals scored. Manley said that the Costa started the game out really strong and with a solid lead.

“Overall we started out very well in all areas of our game,”  Manley said.  “We were keeping great possession and passing really nice which helped us secure a commanding lead for the rest of the game.”

Costa, now 2-1 overall, will take on Downey High School on Saturday away in the next round of the Rose Bowl Tournament. Junior Jamie Averch said that the team did a very good job possessing the ball but are going to have to work on passing out of the back in the next game.

“Overall we were able to move the ball very well today,” Averch said. “However if we want to improve out passing out of the back still needs a lot of work.”
