Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse was shutout by Alissa Niguel High School 11-0 on Saturday in the Girls Lacrosse Rose Bowl Tournament finals.  The team was lead by sophomore Avery McCarty who had many chances on goal but was not able to put one in the net.

Costa made several attempts but unfortunately was not able to finish any of its chances.  Junior Jamie Averch said that the other team was really fast and physical, and Costa played its hardest despite losing without scoring a goal.

“As a team I felt we played very well despite losing by so much,”  Averch said.  “However the other team was overall more physical and skilled than than us which ultimately lead to our loss.”

Costa, now 3-2 overall, will take on Agoura High School on Thursday away at Agoura.  Averch said that the team the girls need to improve in their decision making ability and defense in order to improve.

“In the game our decision making and defense struggled against Alissa Niguel,” Averch said. “so in order to get better we are going to work on those areas of our game this week at practice.”
