Mira Costa’s boys and girls badminton deam defeated Gahr High School, 17-4, on Tuesday at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club.
Costa’s boys singles player senior captain Sam Schwartz and freshman Eric, who won collectively won the first game for Mira Costa. Girls junior doubles team Lena and Klara Nagy, promoted from the JV team last year, won two straight wins in their first Varsity match.
“Eric won his first game and played remarkably well in his first high school match,” head coach Mckenna Wilson said.
The Mustangs’ overall record is now 1-0 will next play Loara High School on Thursday at Loara High School.
“To prepare for our next match, I feel we need to come out with the same enthusiasm as we did today,” Schwartz said.
