The Manhattan Beach community says “bonjour” to the newest authentic French restaurant, Les P’tits Bretons.

The newly-opened traditional French restaurant Les P’tits Bretons in North Manhattan Beach leaves customers satisfied with an array of fresh dishes. Native to the owner’s hometown of Brittany, France, the dishes give customers a glimpse of the authentic essence of French cuisine as well as a refreshing change from the typical food styles in the South Bay.

On August 27, Les P’tits Bretons opened its doors to the public. The restaurant provides both an indoor and outdoor seating area that is designed to look and feel like a café in Brittany, France. Les P’tits Bretons focuses on creating authentic and organic French cuisine. All of the items on the menu come from local farms including Weiser Family Farms, McGarth Family Farm, K&K Ranch and Manhattan Beach’s very own farmer’s market.

Les P’tits Bretons features three different menus: a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. The breakfast menu is limited and consists of homemade pastries, crepes and delicious lattes. The lunch and dinner menu consists of fresh, natural French dishes such as crisp salads, sweet and savory crepes and a variety of traditional French entrees. All of the items are organic, contain no GMO’s and there are also gluten-free options available.

Besides the exquisite and organic food, another outstanding quality of Les P’tits Bretons is the phenominal service. All of the employees speak French, and the attentive staff also gives customers a history and informative lesson on the food and French culture. This allows customers to truly understand what they are eating and where it’s coming from.

The breakfast and lunch menus contain sweet and savory crepes, freshly made croissants and a wide variety of lattes. All of the items on the menus are fresh and filling, but the menus lack a variety of options to choose from. Due to the lack of diversity on the menu, some customers may be unable to find a suitable dish for themselves.

The dinner menu, however, has a wider array of choices than the breakfast and lunch menus. Accompanied by their mouthwatering flavors, each plate has an elegant design, which provides an impeccable finishing touch to the presentation. An array of spices and herbs used by the chef adds to the fresh and exquisite taste of each dish.

With a scenic ocean view, customers feel the ambiance of the restaurant’s French influences. This clever feature allows customers to relax and enjoy their dining experience as if they were in the French Rivera.

The restaurant has a pretty high price tag, but the pure and organic taste make it worth it. Appetizers range from $14 to $22 and entrees range from $20 to $32. Modifications to any dish are strongly discouraged by chef Chuck Kallal who wants to maintain the authenticity of dishes from his homeland. From appetizers to entrees each dish has a rich and delectable taste that leaves the customer wanting more.

Overall, Les P’tits Bretons impresses with their fresh, originial tastes and their employee’s welcoming manners. The outstanding service, and attentive staff extending their hospitality made for an ultimately enjoyable experience that makes customers feel like they are dining in Brittany, France.

Les P’tits Bretons is located at 2201 Highland Avenue in Manhattan Beach and is open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and serves dinner from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
