The Mira Costa girls volleyball team defeated Woodbridge high school 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at home in their first California Interscholastic Federation playoff match.  The top performers of the match included senior outside hitter, Karina Myszkowski for her offensive presence that led to Costa’s win.

The first set of the match was close as Costa took the lead, but Woodbridge trailed closely behind leading the Mustangs to win 25-20. Myszkowski’s left-handed hits helped Costa’s momentum winning the second set 25-13 and the third set 25-13.

“Our team has played really well this season and is improving with every match we play,” said Myszkowski.

The Mustangs have a current overall record of 16-8 and a Bay League record of 8-2.  Next game the team will head to Mater Dei high school to compete in the second round of CIF playoffs versus Mater Dei.

“I think our blocking eye work proficiency probably needs to increase and then we just have to keep serving tough,” said Coach Austin Rester.
