As many other rappers from his time, the film displays the artist’s journey and how he struggled to become known in the music industry.

The documentary was written by Sam Sweet and directed by Emmett Malloy. It was filmed by Wallace’s best friend, Damion “D-Roc” Butter. The film stars The Notorious B.I.G., Damion Butler, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Voletta Wallace.

This documentary is a pleasant watch because of the message it portrays to the viewers. The message that is attempted to be seen is how Wallace was able to overcome his struggles and to see him from a different point of view which adds a raw aspect to the film. Although the film is very explicit, it shows how Wallace was surrounded by gangs and drugs and made it out to become one of the greatest rappers of his time, forming a lasting impact on viewers through the harsh realities of the industry.

Another high-point of the film is its ability to inform viewers so deeply in terms of the artist’s career. The film lets viewers know exactly detail to detail how The Notorious B.I.G. became who he is in the music industry. The documentary features footage from the rapper himself and includes interviews from significant people in his life, adding more depth to the overall story. This variety of viewpoints adds to the fascinating story being portrayed and doesn’t fail to leave viewers pleasantly surprised.

The film is a must-see because it has relevant sources, adding to the reliability of the information and adding an overall personal feel as the sources are people who were in Wallace’s life during the time he was alive. There is also footage of Wallace himself, therefore making the information truthful to his life. This makes the film intriguing to watch as viewers are learning from an enjoyable and highly informative film.

In the end, “Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell” is a well-rounded documentary that is suitable for all age groups. The film is meaningful, informative, and relevant where the viewer will leave with the knowledge of what really happened during the 90s in the east coast.
