Costa boys water polo tied with wins and losses in the annual Santa Barbara tournament on Thursday-Saturday, September 9-11th.

The Mustangs tied with their wins and losses over the long weekend, beating Redlands East Valley 10-4 and San Marcos 12-3, and losing to Santa Barbra 13-10 and Jeserra 10-6 in their first tournament of the season.

“We played some good teams and we were finishing our counterattack really well,” senior Jake Linnel said. “We still have a couple of things to work on but overall it was a good tournament to see our improvements.”

The Mustangs now have a record of 2-3 losses to wins. According to Katz, they are planning to turn this around with their upcoming game this Tuesday the 14th against Orange Lutheran at the Costa pool.

“For our next game against Orange Lutheran, we will do a better job of getting back on defense earlier,” Katz said. “We need to get better at eliminating their counter attacks.”
